ACENZ is a professional association promoting the commercial interests of its members, advancing the practice of consulting and engineering and other professionals in the built and natural environment, providing information and assistance to clients and the public.

ACENZ offers two main membership types: Ordinary and Associate

Other membership types include: Retired Ordinary Member and Honorary Life Member. 


To qualify for Associate Membership, an applicant must: 

  • Subscribe to a suitable code of ethics
  • Operate in a similar field of interest 
  • Support the ACENZ brand
  • Satisfy an interview (if needed)
  • Accepted by a discretionary decision of the board or its delegated sub-committee 

In general, Associate Members are suppliers within the consulting or engineering industry. Examples of appropriate Associate Members would include contracting companies, building supply companies, other suppliers, insurers, etc. 


Benefits to Associate Members include:

  • Summary of the Annual Remuneration Survey (provided by Strategic Pay)
  • ACENZ Advisor e-newsletter (quarterly/seasonal publication)
  • Details listed on the ACENZ website (with links)
  • Limited use of the ACENZ Associate logo
  • Two complimentary write-ups in the ACENZ Advisor e-newsletter (limit of 150 words or 1/3 page of an A4 page)
  • Industry relevant information

Cost of Associate Membership per annum is $500 + GST

If you are interested in becoming an Associate Member, complete the application form here and return to ACENZ staff. Applications are voted on at each Board Meeting, which usually occur every February, April, June/July, or November.



To qualify for retired ordinary membership, you must first have held ordinary ACENZ membership. When you (or your firm) have deemed it time to retire (minimum age of 55 applies), please contact ACENZ staff in writing (email or letter) to inform us of your retirement, or ceasing from practice. We can then convert your existing membership into retired ordinary membership at an annual rate of $98 + GST per year or a rate that is deemed appropriate by the Board. The retiree rate includes the following benefits and access:

  • Access to the Members Only section of the website
  • Receive the Trusted Advisor (ACENZ's quarterly/seasonal e-newsletter)
  • Receive invites to attend ACENZ functions

It is important to note that retired members have ceased from actively practicing within the profession of consulting engineering. For full rules of retired membership, see our practice note on Rules of the Association.



Honorary Life Membership cannot be applied for. At the discretion of the Board, HLM is given to any member of the association or contributor to the industry that has been deemed significant by the Board of ACENZ. Honorary membership includes the same benefits as retired membership and no fee is assocated with the honour.
