    M2PP Summary:

The Mackays to Peka Peka (M2PP) section of the Wellington Northern Corridor is one section of the Wellington Northern corridor which consists of 110km road corridor from Wellington Airport to Levin. The $630 million project delivers 18km of four-lane expressway through Paraparaumu and Waikanae, including a new bridge over the Waikanae River. The new route improves safety, reduces congestion and provides more reliable journey times into and through the Kapiti Coast.

The M2PP Project Alliance was formed with Fletcher, Beca, Higgins joining with NZTA to manage critically important relationships with Kapiti Coast District Council and the Kapiti Community, in the wake of the decision to adopt the Western Link route.

NZTA made the decision to form a project alliance prior to concept design and prior to RMA public consultation in an effort to resolve the potentially difficult stakeholder relationships that were emerging from the central Government decision to replace the long awaited Western Ring route with an expressway with potentially only one interchange over the 18km span.

This event will present commentary from key individuals who worked on the project and which represent the client, consultant, and contractor perspectives which made up part of the alliance. They will discuss the approach to the project, the decision to use an alliance model and their experiences of delivering a major project as an alliance.
