Simulation Lunch and Learn by Simuserv

March 21st in Dunedin - You are invited to join Simuserv as we examine the use of advanced computer aided engineering (CAE) tools across a broad range of industries. Together we will explore how realistic simulation can be leveraged to foster innovation and accelerate the product development process. During this seminar we will examine the role of realistic simulation in the engineering industry and investigate how positioning simulation at the forefront of the design process can facilitate innovation. Furthermore we will look at how a complimentary suite of simulation programs like SIMULIA can improve product performance and reduce time to market. Attendees can expect a free lunch and quality technical presentations.

Dr Amy Lovisa  |  Simuserv  |  12:30 – 1:00 pm
Registration and Introduction to Simuserv

Oliver Marshall  |  Simuserv  |  1:00 – 1:40 pm
The evolving role of realistic simulation in engineering
Oliver will be providing an overview of how simulation has evolved throughout history, and describe how positioning simulation at the forefront of the design process can enable sustainable innovation. Oliver will demonstrate a practical example of the SIMULIA suite being used to support smart design.

Dr Amy Lovisa  |  Simuserv  |  1:40 – 2:10 pm
Realistic simulation in additive manufacturing - closing the gap
Amy will provide an overview of how simulation can be used in additive manufacturing to help close the gap between as-designed and as-built.

Lou Robinson  |  Hadley and Robinson  |  2:20 – 3:10 pm
FEA of unreinforced masonry buildings in earthquake using Abaqus
Lou will be presenting an industry based case study on the use of advanced FEA in predicting the performance of a structure under seismic action.

Gordon McGowan  |  Lean Business Advantage  |  3:10 – 4:00 pm
Reducing non-added value time within your design team
Gordon will engage you in a discussion on the non-added value actions that commonly lie within Design processes; the costs of these are rarely identified and systems often not improved.  The discussion will consider ways and means of identifying and removing such unneeded actions.

Dr Amy Lovisa  |  Simuserv  |  4:00 – 4:30 pm
Introducing XFlow - the next generation CFD
Amy will introduce XFlow and the Lattice Boltzmann Method. Amy will demonstrate how XFlow can be utilized for efficient and advanced analyses of fluid flow around a structure.

Business Networking and refreshments  |  4:30 pm
