Frequently asked questions

How is my submission judged?

The ACE Awards judging process is rigorous. Each submission is reviewed by up to five judges who are experts in their field.

Judges rely heavily on the applicant’s written submission. So it’s important that the requested submission information is provided, not just by marketing personnel but also by those actively involved in the project. Judges look for technical detail that explains and supports the submission.

ACE New Zealand celebrates the business of consulting. Your entry will be judged on how well you and your fellow consultants (where appropriate) performed your consulting services.

Judges complete interviews with the client and where applicable, the main contractor and other stakeholders. Judges may also visit the site.

A wider judging panel of up to 30 experts then moderates the findings by the allocated judges to decide Gold, Silver and Merit winners.

What’s the difference between Gold, Silver and Merit?

A Gold award acknowledges exceptional consultancy service on the project that goes above and beyond normal expectations and sets a new industry standard.

A Silver award acknowledges great consulting service on the project that clearly demonstrates great achievement and service to the client.

A Merit award acknowledges consulting service on the project of a standard that exceeds normal expectations.

What are the assessment criteria?

Submissions are assessed on the following criteria:

  • Consulting experience
  • Depth and extent of technical expertise
  • Creation of sustainable value
  • Client satisfaction

How do judges avoid conflict of interest?

The judging process is rigorous and confidential to staff and judging panel. Processes are in place to prevent conflicts of interest and moderation is robust and diverse across the entire judges panel of up to 30 experts.

Can I expect feedback?

Feedback (even for improvement) and comment on individual entries will not be provided. All outcomes of the awards are moderated and agreed to by the entire panel, approved by the convenor, and are final.

How much does it cost to enter?

The ACE Awards cost $1,200 plus GST per entry. We offer an $800 entry fee for first time entrants and small firms (FTE of 15 employees or fewer).
