The practice was formed in Hamilton in 1988 when Consulting Engineers, Keith Jones and Bob Gray joined forces. The company expanded over the following years to provide sufficient resources to service a range of projects centered around the Waikato area. From the formation of the firm, the Partners have sought to keep the practice small enough to be personally involved with our clients and to manage each phase of our commissions. In 1998 Keith Jones retired from the firm and Mark Thompson was appointed as a Director. Mark bought with him over 15 years of Local Body experience in strategic planning, asset management and investigation, design and construction of utility services, roading and general civil engineering. After working from offices in central Hamilton since formation, the practice moved, in 2005, to purpose designed offices in Te Rapa, Hamilton. The end of 2010 saw Mark Thompson retire from Jones Gray Partners Limited leaving Bob Gray as sole Director and the practice changing its name to Gray Consulting Engineers Ltd. The firm currently comprises six technical and one support staff members.
