Tour the Hundertwasser Art Centre, Wairau Māori Art Gallery and Cantilevered Boardwalk on the Whangarei waterfront.
The engineering challenges designing the foundations and structures on marine silts and with complex curves and no straight lines is one of a kind. Come and meet the engineers and builders that made this possible and understand the challenges they faced.
We will also be viewing the new park area including the new park structures and the new cantilevered boardwalk which has been built from land on a fully piled structure and adjacent to the existing seawalls which required strengthening works. Redeveloped berthage areas in the form of floating pontoons are to be installed soon.
Boots and high-viz required. Please park offsite and walk down to the site.
There will be a happy hour at the end of the tour with drinks and nibbles at The Quay.
This is a joint event between ACE New Zealand and the Northland Branch of Engineering New Zealand, all are welcome.
