About Robin
With 25 years of experience in the engineering sector, my career has been varied and rewarding. I have been very fortunate to have worked as an engineering consultant, client representative and contractor, which has given me a unique understanding of the challenges and opportunities that each face when working together and delivering large and complex projects.
For the first ten years of my career, I was primarily site-based. I worked on some very interesting projects including mine reclamation, decontamination of brownfield sites, tunnelling, and deep foundation construction. As my career progressed, I moved into project management and have worked on numerous building, transport and water engineering projects across New Zealand. One of my most satisfying projects was working with the Royal New Zealand Airforce to build new hangar facilities for the Poseidon P-8 aircraft.
I am a Chartered Engineer and project management professional.

My ancestors come from Scotland, Ireland and Germany. I, however, was born in Zambia and raised in several different African countries as a result of my father being in the mining industry. I moved to New Zealand 16 years ago and now proudly call myself a New Zealander.
What strengths do you bring to the Regional Chair role?
My broad and varied career in various engineering sectors as an engineer, client and contractor gives me a good understanding of the issues that each face from a commercial and technical perspective, which I think would benefit ACE as we look to further strengthen collaboration with our industry and funding partners.
Through my experience on both operational and project leadership teams, I will be able to bring governance and commercial knowledge experience to the role and help promote the needs of ACE members as we prepare for future challenges and opportunities for our industry.
How would you support ACE’s mahi in your region?
I have lived and worked in the Wellington region for the past 17 years and have a good understanding of the local construction industry and good connections with people within the local engineering consultant field. As an ACE representative, my role will be to listen to members and raise the challenges and opportunities that they are facing so that their voice can be heard at a national level.
