SH1 Belfast to Pegasus Motorway and Woodend Bypass – NZTA’s decision-led approach

Jacobs, Wynn Williams Building, Level 2/47 Hereford Street, Christchurch 8013 - November 12, 2025 at 4:00pm - 6:30pm

About

The Government has tasked the NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) with building a more efficient business case process – one that leads to a tight control on project scope and cost, and more efficient and timely infrastructure delivery.

Taking a decision-led approach to develop these projects is one of the ways NZTA is working to support faster, more cost-effective outcomes. The decision-led approach is about project teams doing the right work at the right time to enable the right decisions to be made through each phase.

Come along to hear more about NZTA's decision-led approach to project development and what was learnt when applying it to the development of the SH1 Belfast to Pegasus Motorway and Woodend Bypass investment case. We’ll also cover what it means for the infrastructure sector and next steps for embedding the approach into the development of all NZTA state highway infrastructure projects.
