Benchmark your performance with the 2025 Business Insights Report
A new initiative for 2025, the ACE New Zealand Business Insights Report is designed to help members gain a sense of where your business sits in relation to other engineering and consulting firms, allowing you to benchmark your performance and inform your decisions.
In February, all ACE firms were invited to take part in the new survey which covered financial performance and pricing strategies; insurance and risk management; workforce efficiency and flexibility; software tools and AI; and quality management and carbon emissions.
We received 74 responses to the survey, delivered by our partner Primary Purpose, which has produced a valuable resource allowing you to see how your firm is performing compared with firms of a similar size.
ACE Chief Executive Helen Davidson said that by pulling together data from various sources, the report provides a comprehensive overview of consulting businesses in Aotearoa and highlights emerging trends and opportunities.
“You can see data on all the key performance indicators, like annual turnover, profit margin, overheads and fee pricing. You can find out whether your spend on insurance is similar to firms of the same size. And you can see how common it is to offer flexible working or work from home arrangements.
“It’s really interesting to see how many firms are using AI tools, and the range of software tools people use in their day-to-day work.”
All firms that took part in the survey received individual tailored reports of their figures compared to industry averages and averages of similar sized firms. The main report is available for all ACE members to download.
“There are plenty of great insights in there and we encourage all our members to read the report and find the information that’s relevant to you, to help you plan for the future,” Davidson says. “And if you didn’t take part in this year’s survey, then we encourage you to watch out for it again next year so you can contribute to this great resource and receive a report that’s tailored specifically for your business.”
