While it may be a “YP” event, we welcome the “young at heart” to join us as well.
We hope to see you there, so please RSVP so that appropriate catering can be arranged.
M2PP Summary:
The Mackays to Peka Peka (M2PP) section of the Wellington Northern Corridor is one section of the Wellington Northern corridor which consists of 110km road corridor from Wellington Airport to Levin. The $630 million project delivers 18km of four-lane expressway through Paraparaumu and Waikanae, including a new bridge over the Waikanae River. The new route improves safety, reduces congestion and provides more reliable journey times into and through the Kapiti Coast.
The M2PP Project Alliance was formed with Fletcher, Beca, Higgins joining with NZTA to manage critically important relationships with Kapiti Coast District Council and the Kapiti Community, in the wake of the decision to adopt the Western Link route.
NZTA made the decision to form a project alliance prior to concept design and prior to RMA public consultation in an effort to resolve the potentially difficult stakeholder relationships that were emerging from the central Government decision to replace the long awaited Western Ring route with an expressway with potentially only one interchange over the 18km span.
This event will present commentary from key individuals who worked on the project and which represent the client, consultant, and contractor perspectives which made up part of the alliance. They will discuss the approach to the project, the decision to use an alliance model and their experiences of delivering a major project as an alliance.
Unlocking the power in procurement – an ACE New Zealand masterclass – ACE New Zealand
Join ACE New Zealand’s masterclass to learn ten thinking tools to transform your approach to procurement and ensure better outcomes for Aotearoa New Zealand.
Do you have expertise in procurement and want to advance your problem-solving and creative thinking skills? Do you want to reimagine procurement and become an industry spokesperson and a champion for change? Are you a senior employee at an ACE New Zealand member firms or client organisation? If you want to play a part in improving procurement, this is the masterclass for you.
What is the problem we’re trying to solve?
A lot of great discussions are happening across the construction and infrastructure sector as we look at how to increase efficiency and productivity to deliver innovative, affordable and impactful outcomes for our communities.
How we define, set up and procure a project from the outset has significant implications downstream for the outcomes we will achieve – cost, time, innovation, behaviours and more. How we procure can also help us achieve better cultural, economic, social and environmental outcomes for New Zealand. Nevertheless, we continue to see inconsistent, unco-ordinated approaches to procurement that have widespread negative impacts throughout the supply chain and society, affecting our ability to be efficient and productive.
ACE New Zealand believes procurement is the key to industry transformation – we can improve procurement if we want to.
What does the masterclass involve?
An interactive, conversation-led programme using visual thinking tools to transform the way we approach procurement
Work in teams to clarify the procurement “problem”, design the focal question, and redesign the way we approach procurement
Present your observations, ideas and recommendations at the Futurespace conference on Wednesday 23 October 2024
